Discovery of the Balinese daily life in Sidemen Bali

Weaving Bali

Find out the ancestral know-how of Balinese weavers

Witness the technique and process of textile fabrics. It’s a great opportunity to learn about this ancient art form, as well as understand the textile role in the expression and recognition of spiritual believes.

Go for a walk in the countryside

Off the beaten track, get an authentic taste of Bali, as we go for a walk for about 1h00 in Sidemen Valley. Along the path, there is a chance to meet the farmers working in the field and get to understand their every day life. We discover the exotic plantations and their use in Balinese culture and food. While exploring the valley, our guide will explain to you the Subak system. This cooperative social system controls the water and is part of the UNESCO list. When the weather is clear, you have a stunning view over the Agung Volcano, sacred symbol and highest point of Bali, dominating the surrounding areas. We will cross a small river by foot to arrive at Bali Countryside property, a little taste of adventure!

Note : We give to each participant a bamboo stick and traditional hat (to return at the end of the trek).

We can adjust the length and difficulty according to our participants’ health conditions and weather conditions.

Bali Countryside takes its roots in the will to preserve the cultural heritage while giving back to the local community. We aim to offer activities for travelers who wish to know more about this intricate culture that remains untouched and still traditional.

We invite you to take part in small workshops:

Cooking lesson: Come along for a short cooking lesson of 3 small Balinese specialties. A great way to learn how we traditionally cook with wooden oven and have an authentic taste of Balinese cuisine.

Offerings making : Awaken your inner child while preparing the daily offerings and ceremony cakes. Learn about their meaning and use during the Balinese rituals.

Find out the Balinese skills while imitate them making decorations from palm-leaves. Balinese people are very clever using what nature has to offer to design their own tools for their everyday life. A creative time learning how to weave from leaves and perhaps make your own design !

We invite you for a local liquor tasting, while explaining about the fabrication process. This local liquor named Arak is made from the palm tree’s sap.
